New Cards.

Just thought I'd post a quick update of a few of the the cards I've finished so far this week :)
My attempt at a masculine anniversary card.  I find man cards so hard to do.  Any pointers?  Please share!

This one is for a friends little girl.  It's made using the paper doll cartridge.  The girl is magnetic so her dresses attach easily.  She has undies too...child friendly :)
And my final card.  I used an acrylic resist technique that i learned from Jennifer mcguire last week.  Looks quite pretty in person.  The paint has a pearlescent shimmer :)
Thanks for checking out the latest.  Hope you all have a great week.

And here's our new baby. She'll keep me busy while the kids are in school throughout the week. Her name is Annie :)
Her favorite spot to sleep?

Another Pdcc :)

Here is my entry for the PDCC42 this week. The image is from martha stewart and i broke out my nesties :)

Here's some other cards I made today.

I made this as an anniversary card for friends.

I embossed the backgrounds with stamps from outlines...then used my blender tool and distress inks. Then I mixed some perfect pearls with water and brushed it onto my BG. Looks good in person...well i think so anyway :) Sorry for the lighting folks...little gloomy here today :(
Have a great week :)

New cards :)

Here are my two entries for this weeks color challenge at the play date cafe :)
PDCC41
I really thought I'd have problems with these colors for some reason. I don't use them very often....but when i got started...i loved it. They were so much fun. I guess that's why we do the challenges...to get us out of our comfort zone :)
Thanks for checking them out :)

Both cards were made using cardstock from my stash. I used summer sun ink and riding hood red ink from SU! and the peddaling past set. The little charms and doo-dads were just jingling around in my drawer at the moment.
Hope everyone has a crafty week!

Getting re-aquainted with challenges

With company and whatnot the last few weeks, our house has been in aboslute chaos. TOday I decided was a good day to start up with blog challenges and stuff. I feel like i got a lot accomplished :) First i had a sketch for Mojo Monday. MOJO147. Such a fun sketch :) and it doubles as my entry for the weekly inspiration challenge at Stamptv.
The second card i finished today was for the weekly sketch challenge also at stamptv.

I did a lot of paper piecing ( and a bit of stamping ) on the sailboat card which i made as an entry for The cute card thursday challenge 20 schools out. It has to be summer themed.
Ugh...i have a real love/hate relationship with this one. I had it pictured in my head but it just wasn't working out that way. ( and now that i'm looking at the clock....i think i may have missed the deadline anyway lol ).

And last but not least...
Friends of ours moved into their new house over the weekend. I made this little card for them to accompany their housewarming present :)
Anyway, thanks for checking them out. I always appreciate visits and comments. If you guys ever have any questions never hesitate to ask :)
Stay crafty :)

It's been awhile

So i've recently remodeled my craft area. I should have taken a before picture. It was in the laundry room, in the basement. My DH felt it didn't nuture any creativity so he helped move it into our dining room. Our dining room is simply too narrow to be used for that but perfect to be used for scrapping :)
These were my first two creations. The first picture is an altered canvas. I really felt i needed some wallart.
The second is a card i made for a friend visiting from mexico city. He wanted a special card that he could write a note in for his girl back home. With such a sweet request..how could i say no????
The flower is from a stamp company called "outlines". They're so great for layering and such.
Anyway, thanks for checking out the newest projects....and hopefully my next post won't be too far away :)
Stay crafty :)

A little birdie told me

This is the card i made for The play date cafe challenge pdcc29.

My patterned papers were from cosmo cricket ( earth love ), and K& company ( Que sera ). The birds are a stamp from inkadinkado called duet.
Thanks for checking it out :)
Happy crafting!

Happy Anniversary to us :)

Yay...8 yrs. today. Happy anniversary sweetie. This is the card i made for my DH for our special day. I used my EK success five petal flower punch ( i have no idea what the actual name of the thing is ) and bazzil cardstock for the base. I used my cricut with the storybook cartridge to make the frame and outlined it with my white gel pen from Ranger. The patterned paper was from a pack i got at Walmart a few years ago. I'm sorry...i don't remember the name. I really should start labelling things huh?
Thanks for looking...have a great week :)

I love you

I love the look of corrugated cardboard on any project. Has such great texture, so i had to try it for myself. I used "bay leaf" acrylic paint by folk art and dry brushed it on then ran my tim holtz brushed corduroy over top. The lollipop flowers are made from scraps and the stamp is from hero arts...i think.
Thanks for looking...have a great week!

Anniversary card for friends

I wanted to quickly post the card i made for some friends yesterday. Their anniversary is today..."Happy Anniversary to you!~" :)

I used Jennifer McGuires pearlized ink blending technique...well a modified version. I didn't have a mister or the pearl powder so i used what i had. Instead of the mist she uses, i mixed some of my perfect pearls with water and brushed it on. I was still pretty happy with the effect.

Anyway, thanks for checkin' it out :)
Have a scrappy sunday ;)

~Challenged~

It was all about challenges here yesterday. Once again i joined the girls at Stamptv. First was a sketch challenge which you can find here. I made my first card using the Que sera collection, Martha Stewart ribbons, my cuttlebug and cricut.

Secondly was a challenge found here for a tea bag holder. Once again i used the Que sera collection. I'm in love with this paper...can you tell??? Martha Stewart doily punch and a couple brads. The image is a stamp i have from studio G, and the sentiment from SU!.

Here's a quick view of the inside. I really like this tea.
Thanks for checking it out.
Have a crafty day ;)

Happily ever after

Here's a LO i finished today of my DH and myself at a wedding this past year. It's our anniversary this month so doing this one made me feel all warm and fuzzy :) I used basic grey "offbeat", K&Co. "wild saffron" and black bazzill cardstock. The elements are all from the storybook cricut cartridge.
Thanks for checking it out :)

My NSD :)

So NSD didn't go quite as planned I'll admit. As usual something got planned which would take up just enough time so i couldn't get all those layouts made that i wanted to. I got one done (yay!). The base is Basic grey "offbeat". The rest is cardstock from my stash. I used my fiskars border punch to frame it and added some homemade blossoms. One of the boys brought Benjamin Bear home for a few nights and we had to do a journal of his visit. It was a fun little project. We ended up taking pictures of Owen and Benjamin on the play set in our backyard, in the leaves and things like that. Printed the pictures and did a mini scrapbook page for the teacher. Really...i'm a scrapbooker...if an opportunity presents itself...what would you expect ?
We ended up attending a congregation get-together and i was on cupcake duty. Ahhh cupcakes...at least it's a creative outlet. I watched some videos on how to decorate some snazzy cupcakes and tried my hand at it. I was very pleased with the outcome...especially since these were my first. What about you? Did you get everything done that you had planned to????

Thanks for stopping by...have a great day ;)

Life is a Journey

So I took part in another challenge today...this time with the girls at Stamptv. Patterned paper is by Graphic45, sentiment is studio G. I used my fleur de lis impressabilities for the embossed dark brown and as a stencil for my card base. Branches are from the storybook cartridge and the little flowers are from a punch i had floating around.
Thanks for checking it out. Stay crafty!

Back into the swing of things.

So I took a couple hours and actually cleared a 12x12 spot for me to work in my creative space yesterday. Since hubby is doing renos most of his stuff has ended up in my space. Anyway, now that i have a bit of room i can get back to crafting. It's just that kinda day here too...kinda gray and rainy. Perfect.
This card was made for a challenge on another blog. The Play Date Cafe. The challenge was Black and white with pop of orange. I never really do black and white cards so i must admit this was a challenge...but i enjoyed it :)

Here's another card i made today:

I used basic cardstock for most of it. The red section is from basic grey, the paper roses are graphic 45. I used my CB to emboss the blue then hit it with silver sugar glimmer mist. The scallops are yellow layered with vellum and the colors are much brighter in person. It's been kinda icky here today, so to get a shot with decent light was a little difficult.

Thanks for checking in guys...have a good one :)
Happy crafting!
Cass.

Thinking of you

I've been having so much fun lately experimenting with all the different tutorial out there on how to make paper flowers. Here's the latest. Looks a bit like a carnation i suppose. A friend of mine has hit a bit of a rough patch so i'm hoping this might lift her spirits a wee bit.

I also bought my very first spellbinders die ( large labels ) fantastic! I'm in love and i think i may have an addiction brewing ;)

This is the second card i made this evening ( guess the creative juices were flowing )...
It's my sister-in-laws anniversary this month and surprise...for once i remembered. I've been trying really hard to be that one in the family that remembers all the big events and has the appropiate card....that's the goal :)
Anyway, that's what i got done tonight...hope everyone has a great weekend!

Snowflakes are like winters butterflies.

Hi people :) I think we're finally to settle back into our regular routine around here. Over our March break i took one of the little guys to visit Oma and Opa in Nova Scotia for the week. It was nice to be back home for a bit. My hubby and our other little man stayed home and attempted some renos on the house.
Mom and Dad are without the Internet...so i felt a little cut off from the planet...but we're back and online :)
I brought some of my scrapbook stuff because some of Moms friends wanted to learn how to do it. So with minimal supplies i decided to whip up a LO. Wow...feels like forever since I've made a 12x12er.
Anyway, I'm still thinking of adding some little things to it...but thanks for looking and hope everyone enjoyed their March breaks...if you had one ;)

365 cards~sketch challenge

Had a lot of fun with this one. Pulled out all my inks and some scraps i had been hanging on to for way too long...and voila. Me likey :)

Circle, Silver, and pearls :)

I found another great card making site...how i'll keep up with all these fabulously creative people i don't know :) The challenge was to use a circle, silver, and pearls on your card. I used the foil embossing technique, and also tried embossing with acrylic paint. Gives it a bit of a shabby look. Thanks for checkin' it out guys :)

My revised entry for a sketch.

So here is the original sketch that i was supposed to stick to with the last card....that obviously didn't happen lol. So today i gave it a second try :) Here's what i came up with. I used mostly scraps i had in my stash. Ran the teal piece through my cuttlebug using the swiss dots embossing folder, punched the pink with my Martha stewart punch and the rest was made using my cricut and the storybook cartridge.
Thanks for checkin' it out :)

Dahlia fold all occasion card :)

I've been wanting to try this fold for quite some time now. I think the final product is stunning :) So much depth and detail...love it! Anyway, i made this lil' number last night, it started of from a sketch but...it took on a life of its own. I used K&Company patterned papers that i inked with tim holtz walnut stain and scratched up the edges with my finger nail a wee big. The rhinestones were from walmart. I'm a sparkle gal so i found a little tube that was cheaper than the actual flourishes. I figured i could make a flourish myself so we'd give it a try :) Then i just finished off the edges with some faux stitching.
Thanks for looking :)

You're unfrogettable ;)

You're unfrogettable...words I think we all need to hear a little more often than we do :) I made this today for the Mojo Monday challenge. This is my first challenge...sooo I really hope i'm doing this right. I used the unfrogettable set from stampin' up, cosmo cricket patterned papers and bazzil cardstock. I used some of the new Tim holtz distress ink colors which i'm in love with right now...tumbled glass, bundled sage and weathered wood ( not new ).

Thanks for checkin' it out :)

...Just Because...

So it seems like forever since I've sat down and made something that was just for fun. We got tons of snow so the kids were outside and the house was relatively quiet...which equals either dishes or craft time. Craft time !

I used a stamp a friend had given me ( sorry no tag so i haven't the slightest who makes it) my new EKsuccess border punch with the postage stamp edge and all the cardstock was from bazzil.

The leaves are a stamp from a stampin' up set i have ( best blossoms ).

Baby Album....finished....finally!!!

So i finally finished my friends baby album. I didn't post all the pages but here's just a few. I really hope she's happy with it. One of my first albums...not seasoned at it just yet ;)
